Monica Lerda.

Italian artist. Painting, sculpture, participatory projects.

Silence, abstract seascape in turquoise and deep blue, acrylic on wood, a bright white horizon line low in the frame with touches of violet and ochre

She has moved often, following light — each place changing the way she sees colour and the ground under it. Her work comes from the natural world: landscapes, water, the sky over both. She works on canvas, paper and wood, frequently at sizes that don’t fit a standard frame. Alongside the studio work she builds participatory projects, made with other people rather than for them.

She works independently, without gallery representation, and speaks directly with the people who collect her work.
